We suggest bringing your child to the dentist as soon as their very first tooth appears (usually when they are around six months old). It may seem early, but we can’t stress enough how frequent visits from a young age make a significant difference for your child. It will also help to familiarise them with the surroundings to eliminate any anxiety they may have about attending dental appointments.
Do you offer advice for toddlers?
Here at Selsdon Smiles, we can give extensive advice and help to teach your child the importance of dental health from the early stages of tooth development. We have useful advice and tips about tooth care for tots, including dietary advice and how to use dental tools.
What else can I do to further protect my child's teeth?
To give your child’s teeth further protection, we can apply a fissure sealant as they emerge, usually at the age of six or seven. A clear plastic coating covers the narrow grooves on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, helping to strengthen enamel. This can be extremely beneficial as a long-term preventive technique, and will help prevent tooth decay.
